Alberto Mastellari is a graduate of the International Relations School of the University of St Andrews and currently works in Astana in the EU-funded KAZLOD project for regional development. Previously he worked at the Political Section of the European Union Delegation to Kazakhstan.

Alberto is specialised in security risk and political analysis. His main area of interest is the post-Soviet space, in particular he knows about the Caucasus and Central Asia, where he spent part of his life. For Alberto international relations and post-Soviet politics are not just a specialisation, but also a fully-fledged interest in his life, as he is always keen on speaking, reading and writing about these topics. Alberto also knows about regional development and project management. At present, he is working as a consultant in a EU-funded project providing technical assistance to Kazakhstan national and regional governments to increase the quality of life in Kazakhstan's regions.

He speaks English fluently and has a working knowledge of Spanish and Russian. Alberto is a real citizen of the world, and he loves travelling and meeting new cultures. These passions have brought him to remote corners of the world, such as Eastern Siberia, where he worked as a volunteer teacher teaching English and Italian to teenagers.

Alberto is always ready for new challenges and experiences, and is looking forward to exploring new professional opportunities.
