Born Winaldo Artaraya Swastia, Aldo graduated Bachelor of Arts from Jakarta Institute of Art (IKJ), where he received full scholarship and achieved Cum Laude. His directing film thesis, Angin (Eng: An Essence of Wind), was critically acclaimed, nominated for Best Short Film at 2010 Festival Film Indonesia and was screened at both domestic and international film festivals. He is an alumnus of Berlinale Talents Tokyo 2022.

After working as an assistant director and co-director in Indonesian feature films, he started his career as a director and directed several projects, namely Brata (Season 1 & Season 2), a HOOQ/Maxstream original crime series which garners several accolades; Dunia Maya, a Vision+ original series which is the National Winner for Best Drama Series in 2021 Asian Academy Creative Award; and Di Balik Kubikal, an XL Axiata commercial web series for MyXL channel in Youtube, winning The Breakthrough Content Marketing of the Year in 2019 Marketeers Editor’s Choice Award. His feature film debut, Kadet 1947, where he acts as both the director and screenwriter, won 2 awards in Indonesian Screen Awards for Best Film and Best Directing at 16th JAFF 2021 ‘Tenacity.’ The film also received seven Citra Award nominations in FFI 2022, including Best Original Screenplay.

He, along with his filmmaking partner Gita Fara are the founders of Cineria Films.
