Alec Schemmel

Alec Christopher Schemmel is an American University journalism major, and political science minor, who interns inside the United States House of Representatives. A 2019 graduate of the National Journalism Center, Alec Christopher Schemmel has also served as a staff writer, copy editor and editorial intern for both nationwide and local publications. While working, Schemmel has undertaken both print and broadcast reporting duties in order to generate interesting and newsworthy content for his audiences.

Among his news making experiences, Mr. Schemmel has served as a student freelance correspondent with The College Fix, generating and pitching campus news ideas. When assigned to do so by his editor, he has undertaken interviews and authored articles about issues of national significance. Since early 2018, he has also been a member of organizations such as the Young America’s Foundation and Young Americans for Liberty.

In the summer of 2018, Mr. Schemmel served as an intern with the women’s leadership organization, The Impact Center, where he assisted in the development of strategies to support the professional and personal goals of the program's alumnae.
