Alejandro Rustom

Alejandro Rustom Cárdenas was born in Santiago de Chile on February 2nd, 1968 and studied photography at the Higher Institute of Arts and Communication ARCOS.

In 1994 he began his practice in the newspaper La Época; after a season begins its work in Diario la Nación, and then continue with his work experience at the magazine El Gráfico Chile, from the newspaper El Mercurio.

At the end of 1998 starts to work on a new publishing project, in Diario El Metropolitano, where he worked as a photographer and for the last 18 months of the Journal served as Photo Editor of the newspaper.

In 2008 he traveled to Caracas Venezuela, where he worked as a photographer for the British news agency Reuters as a stringer, and for other magazines such as Ocean Drive, Life is Magazine, for the Grupo Editorial Plus (Habitat Plus and Habitat a la Carta), Etiqueta magazine, Grupo Editorial Producto (Producto Magazine, Dinero Magazine) and also did some colaborations for the Houston Chronicles and currently is a staff member of the Agency Orinoquiaphoto. Since December 2012 collaborates with the agencies United Press International (UPI) and Demotix.

Now based in Santiago Chile, Alejandro Rustom is an independent Photographer and is available for assignments in Chile and neighbor countries. Specialized in news, reportages features and documentary photography.
