I am currently working at the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), Nairobi, as a Gender Scientist. My work focuses on gender issues in the livestock value chain in Tanzania in the framework of empowerment, agricultural research for development and food security. Before joining ILRI I worked at the International Centre for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA) on gender research in empowerment, seed governance and participatory plant breeding. I obtained an MA in social anthropology of development at SOAS, University of London, UK, and a PhD in social sciences applied to agricultural research for development at Wageningen University, NL. In my home town in Italy, I am involved in the small-organic farm that belongs to my family where we produce a beautiful organic olive oil.
