Inspiring the Next Generation of Women in Sport

one Step at a Time

Hello! My name is Alessia.

I am currently in my third year at Ryerson University working on completing a Bachelor of Arts in Sport Media and a minor in Public Relations. While being a full time student, I am a Broadcast Crew Leader for Rams Live working to produce hockey, volleyball, and basketball broadcasts on OUA.tv at the Mattamy Athletic Centre in Toronto, Ontario. Prior to working with Rams Live, I worked at Growing Tykes Learning Centre as a teacher’s assistant helping organize activities and monitoring the children in the classroom.

Since I was a little girl, my biggest passion has always been sports. Throughout my childhood, I played a variety of sports such as soccer, volleyball, track and field, and cross country. As I got older it became harder to play an array of sports while being in school, so I chose to stick with soccer until I possibly couldn’t. From a young age I knew that I wanted my future career to somehow be connected to sports as it was what I was and still am most passionate about. Fast forward to 2022, I am producing sports broadcasts, studying sport media, a co-host of an NHL hockey podcast The Wraparound, and managing my own page on instagram

After completing my Bachelor of Arts, I hope to be working in the sport media industry in some shape or form. As I have studied sport media through the years, many possible careers in the industry have interested me very much. A career goal of mine is to be working with a major sports team in Toronto such as the Toronto Blue Jays, Toronto Raptors, or the Toronto Maple Leafs to name a few. With these teams I see myself fulfilling roles such as content producer or social media manager.
