Alex Ostrovsky
Executive Director for Smart Fans at Modern Forms in Carmel, Indiana, United States
Alex Ostrovsky is a business executive and product strategist with a strong background in consumer goods and electrical manufacturing. He serves as Executive Director of Business and Product Development for Smart Fans at Modern Forms, where he leads strategy and execution in a technically detailed, design-focused smart home category.
His path into the industry was purposeful. Early in his professional life, Alex understood that the core principles learned through legal education, persuasion, negotiation, preparation, and accountability could be effectively applied to commercial leadership. He viewed sales not as a transactional role, but as a structured process that connects customer needs, operational realities, and long-term brand value.
He earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the IU Robert H. McKinney School of Law at Indiana University. While there, he served as President of the Criminal Law Association and competed at a national trial competition in Chicago. He is licensed as an attorney in Indiana and later became a managing real estate broker. These experiences shaped how he evaluates risk, structures agreements, and approaches regulatory environments. Rather than remain in traditional legal practice, he chose to move closer to business operations and decision-making.
Alexander Ostrovsky built his commercial foundation at Fanimation Ceiling Fans, where he served as a National Account Manager and later as a National Sales Manager. He managed major national accounts, including Ferguson Enterprises, and directed e-commerce strategy across Amazon, Wayfair, Build.com, and specialty lighting retailers. His responsibilities included overseeing product lifecycles, pricing strategy, inventory planning, and competitive analysis. He also introduced the company’s first national buying program, creating a clearer framework for measurable account growth.
He has been with Modern Forms for a little over 8 years, beginning as National Sales Manager – Smart Fans and later advancing to Director of Sales & Product Management. In March 2025, Alexander Ostrovsky of Indiana was promoted to Executive Director of Business and Product Development. In this role, he works with executive leadership to define ceiling fan strategy within the WAC Group portfolio, leading sales planning, customer management, connected-fan development, supplier coordination, tooling budgets, and pricing and inventory decisions.
He has served on the Government Affairs Committee of the American Lighting Association for more than 10 years and helped initiate National Ceiling Fan Day. With consistent focus and disciplined execution, Alex Ostrovsky continues to advance smart ceiling fan technology and drive long-term industry growth.
