I am originally from Congers, NY. I am a singer/songwriter who has been performing since she was a little girl. Starting in high school, I was in a band for many years. She was named Danbury Idol which was a local singing competition held in Connecticut. I received a S.T.A.R award for her work in the musical Pippin and I had the honor of singing at the legendary Apollo Theater. I am currently pursing a music business degree at Berklee College of Music.
All my life, the only thing I’ve ever wanted to do is sing. Throughout the course of my twenty years, I’ve had so many musical influences that I aspire to be. As a child, I would listen to every possible type of music; singing, dancing, and running around like a mad woman. Artists such as Boyz II Men, Whitney Houston, and Aerosmith were just a few of my obsessions and are still huge influences on me to this day. On any given day, I listen to hours of music. I could hear a song and it could spark something in me. At that moment, I have no other choice but to start writing. Listening to the sounds I love bring me inspiration. I could wake up in the middle of the night and write down a melody with lyrics because I couldn’t stop hearing it in my dream. I sometimes feel like my mind works very spastically and I never know when my creative process will begin.
Being at a music school, surrounded by others who love what I love, and teachers who want to help us strive has pushed me in ways I didn’t think I could be pushed. I want to continue to grow as an artist. Just when I think I’ve learned everything I can learn, something else happens. My family, home, life experiences, college, have all shaped me not only as a person but also shaped my artistry. The one thing that can make magic and pull you out of a dark place is creating music. Music reaches each and every one of our souls in a profound and moving manner. I am an artist, and frankly I wouldn’t have it any other way.
