I am a graduate from Vanderbilt University with a bachelor’s degree in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. I work for Praxair and am currently a Business Development Engineer. In this position I am able to apply my skills to a variety of industries and work in an ever changing environment.
I grew up in Phoenix, AZ. My sister and I were raised in a single-parent home with our mother, who had a huge role in my upbringing. My mom is a spunky, independent woman who is not afraid of taking risks. When she was supporting my sister in pharmacy school and me in high school, she quit her job at Intel to run a new company and has achieved great success. Her business skills are impressive, and I continually use her as a resource for advice. She is my role model.
Since leaving Phoenix for college in Nashville, TN, I have lived in five different cities. I spent three and half years in Nashville for college and now fully appreciate country music. I studied a semester abroad in Brisbane, Australia, where I primarily took engineering courses and made my first attempts at surfing. My first position out of school was in Burns Harbor, IN. After a year, I moved to Dallas, TX and remained there for another year. I am currently living in Houston, TX. I have appreciated each opportunity to live in a new city. While it is difficult saying goodbye to the friends I have made, I embrace each move as an opportunity to meet new people and learn a different environment.
I enjoy being active and finding new ways to challenge myself. I played basketball and volleyball in high school, and my team won a state championship in volleyball. I enjoyed basketball and volleyball because they are team sports, where the success of the team depends on the contribution of every individual. I believe this is important not only in sports but in a working environment as well.
I also love animals. My family owns two dogs who may not be considered cute by the normal standards, but we love them dearly. My girlfriend and I recently rescued a female Labrador mix, and we enjoy taking her to the dog park, on long walks, and on hikes. Although raising a puppy can definitely be frustrating at times, her beady eyes and fervent licks are enough to subdue any anger.
Overall, I am a guy who loves adventure and relishes the opportunity to face a new challenge. I am ambitious and enjoy working with others toward a common goal.
