Hi- I am Alex Wilkins, your Miss Teen California Intl 2016! I am so excited and humbled to represent my beautiful home state at Miss Teen International this July!

I grew up in San Diego with my wonderful parents, Kim & DJ, my younger brother, Matt (17) and adorable dog, Torrey! Since I was blessed with the ability to live where most people vacation, I wanted to broaden my experiences in regards to weather, geography and culture! Currently, I am a freshman at Texas Christian University, pursuing a degree in Child Development, with a minor in psychology, to one day, become a Child Life Specialist.

My favorite activity is doing downward dog alongside my dad, even if he is better than me at yoga! I am an extremely inquisitive young lady, and I often find myself googling and researching whatever question I have, regardless the time of day! I am a HUGE Disney fan; Monster’s Inc. forever reigns as my absolute favorite Pixar movie. In fact, I collect Mike Wazowski memorabilia and have over 30 items! I truly believe that “you are in charge of your own happiness” and I stay smiling by coloring, singing (even if I’m not very good!) and laughing with my best friends!

As an 18-year-old survivor of a rare, un-diagnosable life-threatening illness, I acquired a passion to help critically ill children. It is my hope to make a difference in the lives of others and act as a “Rae of Hope” when hope seems lost. My goal is to hopefully, even for at least one minute, bring some extra joy into a child’s day and ensure that they know they are supported and that their strength is recognized and admired. My passion for helping children goes deeper than wanting a child to get better; to me, it is about bringing even one more minute of happiness, one more smile, one more laugh or one more ‘Rae of Hope’ into these children’s lives.

God blessed me with a difficult and arduous life, but a life that provides me pure satisfaction, joy, peace and gratitude.

XO,

Alex Wilkins
