Alex Zhou

A techno-optimist and Managing Partner at Qiming Venture Partners - a leading technology investment firm. He is one of Asia’s most active investors in AI, with a decade-plus track record of backing transformative AI companies from the early stages. He focuses on AI, robotics, and other frontier technologies shaping the future.

His portfolio includes more than 20 listed or unicorn companies, including Zhipu AI (02513.HK), Biren Technology (06082.HK), UBTech Robotics (09880.HK), Roborock (688169.SH), HyperStrong (688411.SH), Unisound (09678.HK), Viewtrix (03310.HK), Axera (00600.HK), Transwarp (688031.SH), Yunji Technology (02670.HK), StepFun, Shengshu Technology, Mech-Mind Robotics, Galbot, TARS, Dexmal, AIEDU, DeepWay, Infinigence AI, and ROX Motor.

Prior to Qiming, Alex worked for Kleiner Perkins (KPCB) in both China and Silicon Valley. Before transitioning into his investment career, Alex was at Hewlett-Packard (HP) responsible for data storage business in China.

Alex was named to the Forbes Midas List in 2026, recognizing the world’s top 100 venture capital investors, and has been recognized on the Forbes China Venture Capital 100 list for multiple consecutive years.

Alex is on the management committee of China Rural Revitalization Entrepreneur Support Program, a project committed to training and empowering rural industrial entrepreneurs and social enterprise entrepreneurs.

Alex sits on the advisory board of Beijing Stock Exchange.

Alex is also a guitarist in some unpopular, inactive bands formed by startup founders and investors (e.g. 116th Street Band).
