Alexa Joy

As a human rights advocate, equity consultant, artistic curator and project coordinator - I have spent the past seven years of my academic and professional career demonstrating a firm commitment to the advancement and collective development of marginalized communities in Canada. As the Founder and President of Black Space Winnipeg my human rights advocacy has received awards from national institutions recognizing my efforts in community development and social justice advocacy while promoting education and awareness of human rights and equality for marginalized Canadians. Holding a BA Arts (Human Rights) from the University of Winnipeg I am obtaining my MA researching and developing policies and working towards dismantling systemic discrimination in Canada.
