Alexander Moore

Vienna, Austria

I am the Secretary General of Jeunesse Austria, the nationwide largest promoter of classical music and music education programs, serving in this function since April 2015.

Before that I was the in-house editor and dramaturg for the Tonkünstler Orchestra and the Grafenegg Festival for seven years. In this capacity I presented concerts, radio programmes and pre-concert talks at the Musikverein Vienna, the Festspielhaus St. Pölten and in Grafenegg. In 2014 I founded MusiConsulting, a service network specializing in producing and editing publications (print and electronical) for cultural institutions.

Born in Vienna into a music-loving family with Austrian and US-American roots, I studied musicology for two semesters before studying classical guitar, piano and voice at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. In 1998 I was a co-founder of Radio Stephansdom, Vienna's first private classical radio station, where I worked as music editor and presenter.

In 2001 I moved to Graz and was the head of communications at the Opera House and the theatre for young audiences «Next Liberty». After completing my studies (2006) I worked at the Playhouse in Derry (Northern Ireland) where I directed a play by Wolf Mankowitz. I returned to Austria where I was a member of the artistic administration at the Brucknerhaus Linz: I planned and organised concerts with classical and chamber music, Lied recitals, programmes with music and literature as well as the Linzer Klangwolke «Six Tales of Time». In 2007 I joined the wonderful Tonkünstler Orchestra and the Grafenegg Festival, before founding MusiConsulting and being appointed Secretary General of the Jeunesse Austria.
