I am a graduate of Shimer College where I studied philosophy through reading and discussing the Great Books. I spent the last three years working as the Assistant to the Director of Financial Aid at Shimer.
I also served as a Student Representative on Shimer's Board of Trustees, the Secretary of the Academic Planning Committee, a member of the Dean's Office Evaluation subcommittee, a member of the Judicial Appeals and Grievances Committee, and as the Student Representative on the Presidential Search Committee.
Outside of Shimer I have managed stores in the retail world and worked for a not-for-profit theatre and playwright union, The Chicago Dramatists. A great deal of my skill set is in the realm of human resources, specifically in recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training new employees. I am also skilled in typing, Photoshop, Excel, organization, budgeting, and managing an office.
One of my passions is literacy and numeracy. I love to volunteer with children at libraries and schools to help the students gain both of those skill sets. I started volunteering with a library literacy program when I was still in middle school. At the Chicago Dramatists I worked with CPS for a theater literacy program that aimed to help students improve their reading and writing confidence.
I spent the 2013 summer working in California buying and selling rare books and reading with children in the area.
