Baton Rouge, Louisiana
I am currently a full-time student at Louisiana State University (LSU) majoring in mass communication with a concentration in journalism and a minor in business administration. I am also a member of the LSU Tiger Girls dance team. As a senior, I am hoping to grasp a better understanding of communication and media around the world as well as take my journalism and editing skills to the next level in hopes to one day work for a well-known magazine. I also have a lot of interest in public relations, fashion, and advertising. I anticipate to graduate in May of 2016.
Growing up I always struggled when it came to deciding what I would do when I was older and where life would take me. Professional dancers are usually torn betweeen the decision of school or dance, and I knew I was not ready to give up either. Luckily I was fortunate enough to get the best of both worlds at LSU. Being an LSU Tiger Girl has opened up so many opportunities for me. As a LSU Tiger Girl, I represent the university at on campus and off campus promotional events. We also participate in community events such as Habitat for Humanity, Walk to Defeat ALS, and Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital. Being on LSU's dance team, my main job it to perform at LSU baseball games as well as men and women's basketball games. The LSU Tiger Girls also represent the university every year at the Universal Dance Association in Orlando, FL where we have held both national and world titles. I not only get to do what I love while at the same time gettting an education, but I have also made so many connections through marketing that will come useful when I have to enter the "real world".
In high school I was the school newspaper and yearbook editor, and this is really when I discovered my love for writing and editing. I love the idea of creating with words and images, and this is how I knew that mass communications was the right fit for me. I hope by the time 2016 comes around I will be able to continue doing what I love as a career.
I love to bake, spend time with my family and friends, eat boiled crawfish, and cheer on the Tigers!
