Alexandra Townsend

Alexandra completed degrees in piano performance at McGill University (B.Mus), the New England Conservatory (M.Mus), the University of British Columbia (DMA), and one year of private post-doctoral studies in London, England. Her principal teachers were Dorothy Morton, Patricia Zander, Robert Silverman, Jane Coop and Christopher Elton.

Alexandra has performed in Canada, the US and the UK as a recitalist and chamber musician. She has been active as a festival adjudicator, clinician and lecturer, leading a variety of workshops and master classes. She also developed and taught the piano pedagogy curriculum for McGill University's Faculty of Music.

Alexandra currently teaches at her Montreal Piano Studio and at the McGill Conservatory of Music. She is a member of the Quebec Music Teachers’ Association, and examines throughout Canada and the US for The Royal Conservatory of Music as a member of the RCM Examinations College of Examiners.
