A single aspect about my life, one that is very important to me, is that I am a twin sister. One reason why I am thankful to be a twin is because I always have a go-to “fun fact” every time I am forced to introduce myself in front of a group of people. But more importantly, being a twin to my brother Jordan is the reason I am where I am today. Being a twin is not always fun, nor is it always easy, but it sure makes life interesting… like when he decided to date my best friend. When I say I am a twin, everyone’s response is always, “How fun!” or “I wish I had a twin!” Yes, it is very fun, but what is not so fun is leaving him for college.

I am a twin sister to a boy that is a foot taller than me and almost twice my weight. Growing up with him made me my competitive, driven, and extroverted self. Throughout my whole life I have been in competition with a person who was in all my classes, rode to and from school with me, ate every meal with me, and slept under the same roof as me. For the first eighteen years of my life, we were never apart. Throughout our childhood, we made great memories, like matching on Halloween and having joint birthday parties. But that is what makes being a twin difficult--becoming so close with someone and then having to depart as adulthood draws closer. Now, as he attends the University of Utah and I at the University of Georgia, it is time to start my own chapter of my life, an experience that I do not have to share and is completely my own. Here, I plan on continuing to grow and embracing independence, while always remembering how thankful I am for people that I love and miss.
