This quote continues to be so real to me time and time again. The truth is, I've only recently started to realize that I've been living my entire life directionless, emotionally detached from the world and just going through the motions.

I completed my IT degree in Ireland that I knew I had no interest in because "that's what you were supposed to do". I took a year out to travel in order to "find myself". But the reality is, I never made those decisions myself. I did it because everyone else was doing it. It took me another semester of college doing my masters for me to finally have the courage to say that enough was enough.

It was the first decision I ever made for myself of the magnitude... Boy did it feel empowering! So, I took with me this confidence to pursue a career in digital marketing, something I've always had a fascination for. Self-learned initially, I eventually landed my first job as a digital marketer with an e-commerce fashion company handling email marketing campaigns to a list of 200k+.

Going beyond my skills in email marketing, I continued to further develop my skills in areas of media buying, content marketing, and UX design. Who would have known that 12 months down the line, I would land a job across the world with one of the top startups in Malaysia, StoreHub. Talk about one decision changing your life haha. But that day I got the offer was the day I knew that I had the mindset and skillset to achieve great feats in digital marketing.

But as Ralph Waldo Emerson puts it, "To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment".
