Alexis Adams

My name is Alexis Adams and ever since I was little I have been in love with art. I guess you could say I was born to love it. My grandmother loved art in a way that no one else did, and she was extremely good at it. I have seen some of the paintings that she painted and I am blown away. She was a truly gifted artist. My grandmother died before I had a chance to meet her, but her love for art lives on in me. From the time I was little I was always wanting to do something with arts and crafts. It was an obsession of mine, all I wanted to do was paint. I wanted to draw so much that one time I drew all over my bedroom with a crayon, and that was not the best idea I have ever had. As I grew up my mom let me take a few art lessons, and then when I got into high school I got to take some really interesting art classes that I had heard about and was finally old enough to take. My freshmen year I took graphic design which was much more drawing than I expected it would be, and for some reason, I did not like it that much. My sophomore and junior year were filled with beautiful watercolors that to this day I still have hanging in my room. Watercolor is by far my favorite type of painting because the finished product comes out so pretty and I find it is so calming. My senior year I left Watercolor behind and I moved into AP Art which I struggled with at first, but I found my place sooner or later. It was very challenging and it forced me to really use my creative side. I think that is why I liked it so much because it forced me to do more than I thought I could. Not only do I love art because of its calming nature, but I also love it because it lets you express yourself in a way that is more than words and that is a very special thing to me.
