Alexis M. Mitchell, a distinguished two-time Emmy® Award winner with over 25 years of experience in the broadcast and digital media industries, serves as the Social Media Director for FAMM (Families Against Mandatory Minimums), a national, nonpartisan advocacy organization dedicated to advancing fair and effective criminal justice policies. As the social media director, she plays a key role in advocating for sentencing and prison reform on a national scale while elevating the voices of individuals and families directly affected by these issues.

Her accomplished career includes 12 years at WBTV (CBS affiliate), where she served as a News Content Specialist, contributing to programs such as WBTV News This Morning, WBTV News on Bounce TV, WBTV News at Noon, and the lifestyle show Morning Break. Alexis has also refined her expertise through roles at WTVI Charlotte (PBS affiliate) and leading radio stations, including WPEG Power 98 and 97.1 WQMG. She played a pivotal role in the success of Bennett College for Women's "#StandwithBennett" campaign by creating compelling visuals that were central to the campaign's powerful storytelling. Her contributions, coupled with collaboration from others, helped the college raise $9.5 million in just 60 days to secure its accreditation.

A graduate of Bennett College for Women, Alexis earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications, specializing in Broadcast Production and Broadcast Journalism. Her exceptional work has earned her numerous accolades, including the Outstanding Young Alumni Award from UNCF, the Urban League of Central Carolinas’ Young Professional Leadership Award, and the nationally syndicated radio show Cafe Mocha's Media Innovator Award, recognizing her groundbreaking contributions to the broadcast industry.

Alexis is an active member of several esteemed professional organizations, including the National Press Club, the National Association of Black Journalists, the Washington Association of Black Journalists, Charlotte Area Association of Black Journalists, Women in Film and Television – Atlanta, the National Association of Professional Women, and the Association for Women in Communications. She is also a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. Through her dedication, innovation, and leadership, Alexis continues to inspire and solidify her reputation as a trailblazer in the media industry.
