Alexis M. Mitchell is a native of Charlotte, North Carolina. She received her Bachelors of Arts degree in Mass Communications with a Sequence of Broadcast Production & Broadcast Journalism from Bennett College for Women. Before her career, Alexis worked for the CBS Radio affiliated WPEG Power 98 as in News Intern and once her arrival to Greensboro for college, she work for 97.1 WQMG in the Promotions Department. In 2006, Alexis left the crazy world of radio and began her journey in television at WTVI Charlotte (PBS) as a Corporate Underwriter and Project Management Representative. Currently, Alexis is a News Content Specialist for the Morning and Noon Shows for the CBS Affiliate in the “Queen City”. She is a member of several professional associations; National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ), Charlotte Area Association of Black Journalists (CAABJ), National Association of Professional Women (NAPW), Association of Woman in Communications (AWC), National Association of Black Female Executives in Music and Entertainment (NABFEME), National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences -Nashville/Midsouth Emmy® Chapter (NATAS), Lambda Pi Eta Honor Society, UNCF Maya Angelou Women Who Lead Luncheon Committee. Mitchell was awarded the, “2013 Outstanding Young Alumni Award” from the UNCF, Urban League of Central Carolinas “Young Professional Leadership” Award and in 2012 and 2013 won an Emmy® Award for the "Best Morning Newscast". Alexis is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. Currently, Alexis is the Chapter President, Charlotte Area Association of Black Journalists and Chair, National Association of Black Journalists Student Education Enrichment and Development (SEED) Program.
