Alexius Davis

My name is Alexius Davis and I was born on February 15, 1996 in Sylvester, GA. I am the daughter of Isiah and Angela Davis. I am currently a freshman at The University of Georgia.

I attended Worth County High School in Sylvester, GA. My senior year I was in the Work- Based Learning program and an Intern at the Sylvester- Worth County Chamber of Commerce. I was president of Beta Club, president of Future Business Leaders of America, and Vice President of Student Government. I was Senior Superlative and a Honor Graduate.

My hobbies include playing the piano, playing tennis, and competing in pageants. I was the church musician at Friendship Baptist Church and Charity Grove Baptist Church. I played on the varsity tennis team at my school and was awarded the Most Valuable Player. I have been competing in pageants since I was three and I hope to one day become Miss Georgia and Miss America.

I have received various awards for my contributions to the community. I received the Presidential Volunteer Service Award for completition of at least 250 hours of community service. I also received the Chamber of Commerce Volunteer of the Year. I accumulated all of these hours in my community by partiipating in service projects such as The Great Sylvester Cleanup, Special Needs Pageant, Care Packages for Soldiers, Christmas caroling at Nursing Home, Easter egg hunt for foster children and many more.

I have taken the Healthcare Science class while in high school and acquired my Certified Nursing Assistant License the end of my junior year. I have also been a volunteer for United Hospice for three years where I visit patients weekly at the nursing home who are on hospice.

I have always loved doing math. I was that one student who could grasp new concepts in a heartbeat and be able to teach the class about it. Because of this I have been able to return my knowledge to help my peers. Over the past two years, I have been tutoring various students in the area of mathematics. This has lead me to the career choice of Mathematics Education. I believe I have the true qualities to make myself an exceptional educator. I believe that education should be important to everyone. As Nelson Mandela said, "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." I am motivated to succeed and reach my goals. I am so glad to be apart of the University of Georgia
