Alex Leikermoser
Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Alex is an entrepreneur that has taken her core beliefs of sustainability and conscious living and created authentic businesses & products for herself and others. One can easily be inspired by her sense of calm & unique creative expression. Her visionary approaches illustrate how it is possible to find balance in your own life; live your dream & stay true to your hearts calling.
Alex launched her career as an Eco- Interior Designer and was invited to develop and teach the first curriculum on sustainable design for the fourth year Design program at Ryerson University. As her career progressed, her avant-garde “green” Interiors & furniture designs were featured regularly in the press, 10 years before “going green” became mainstream. As a successful entrepreneur, she encountered severe health challenges & chronic fatigue followed by a car accident. In order to manage her severe back pain & fatigue she propelled herself further into alternative lifestlyes. Then she studied meditation, raw food, guided visualization, freeform movement & dance, yoga & hula hooping...
In 2000 she retrained as a yoga instructor to commit more deeply to her personal health. It was clear to Alex Health was the #1 priority & key to balanced living. Going under the moniker 'Yogagurl', an organically grown multifaceted company was born whose vision was to impart balance & play through it's unique product line of message based modular clothing launched in 2002, noted as one of Canada's top 4 yogawear designers. Soon followed by themed chocolate yoga classes & leading edge wellness tools such as her 'Breathing CD".
2010 she founded WISE, an online directory & guidebook. A website telling the stories of local small business founders. The goal: to educate & connect the consumer to local sustainable businesses.
In 2010 she was invited to create a stand alone 'Movement Studio' "by yogagurl" & wellness concept at the spa at The Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Toronto. Completeting her contract there in 2014.
Today in 2014, Alex is celebrating the 10 year anniversary of yogagurl & has moved the brand online to free up time for visionary collaborations. What's next? Partnerships, ambassadorships, speaking & consulting CEO's and companies at the top of their field whose desire is to create leading edge contributions to society.
