I’m Alex Maggs-Wellings, an SEO Lead and Organic Search Specialist with 20+ years of hands-on experience growing organic visibility, traffic and revenue across eCommerce, travel, B2B and B2C markets.

20+ Years in SEO

My experience spans technical SEO, organic strategy, content, site architecture, crawling and indexation, eCommerce SEO, internal linking, link building, structured data and analytics.

I’ve also conducted 500+ SEO tests and spent years studying Google patents, algorithms and search behaviour to better understand what drives sustainable organic growth.

AI Search, GEO & the Future of SEO

More recently, my work has expanded into AI Search and GEO, including entity optimisation, semantic SEO, structured data and understanding how brands and content are interpreted by traditional search engines and AI-driven search.

I’m particularly interested in how search is evolving through AI Overviews and LLMs, while continuing to focus on the technical and strategic SEO foundations that drive organic performance.

SEO Leadership & Mentoring

I’m still very hands-on with SEO while also leading specialists, working closely with developers and stakeholders, and coaching and mentoring other SEO professionals.

Teaching has been an important part of my career too. I ran an eCommerce SEO Mastermind for two years, helping SEO professionals develop their knowledge of advanced eCommerce strategy, technical optimisation and testing-led growth.
