Alex Shilling

Dundee

I'm a freelance journalist, communications consultant and final year MA Politics and Public Policy student at the University of Dundee.

Currently, I work in communications for the Conservative Party in Eltham, focusing on the campaigns of Councillor Spencer Drury, who is standing for Parliament in the seat of Eltham at next year's general election.

I also head up the social media side of London-based start-up drinks company Boutique Bar Brands and am a lead writer and sub-editor for political blogging website Backbench. I write mainly on feminism and Scottish politics and have previously worked for the Courier and Scotsman newspapers.

Previously, I have been Current Affairs editor for Dundee University student magazine The Magdalen, News Content Editor for the student television station DUSATV, writer for the now defunct ToryHoose.com, PR manager for Millers Tale and LILIFI and news editor for West Ham United e-fanzine Blowing Bubbles.

I am based from September to December, January to March and April to May in Dundee and live in London the rest of the time.
