Alex Stedman

Los Angeles

Chicago-born, Los Angeles transplant. Alex Stedman is a recent journalism grad from Columbia College Chicago, and recently moved to LA. She now has a full-time internship with Variety, writing daily pieces for the web, going to premieres to interview celebs and working on features for the print publication.

In school, Alex was an honors student on the Deans list, all while working full-time for the school paper, The Columbia Chronicle, which was recently named the #1 non-daily college paper in the country. There, she wrote two stories per week and the occansional feature, all with original reporting, as the Assistant Arts & Culture editor. In school, she also had an editorial internship at Womensforum.com, who asked her to freelance after her internship was over. She also interned for Chicago's WGN Radio, helping day-to-day production on air and even voicing a segment that ran.

Upon moving to LA in January, she participated in CCC's Semester in LA entertainment journalism program, where she was the co-managing editor of the class blog and immersed herself in entertainment. After the five-week intense semester, she was hired for a full-time internship at Playboy in the research department.

After three months at Playboy, she joined Variety in July, where she has produced countless clips. In her space time, she explores LA, pets as many dogs as she can find and watches too much TV. She is a Lostie, a Potterhead and whatever you call fans of "The Hunger Games." Her favorite shows include "Desperate Housewives," "Breaking Bad," "American Horror Story," "Weeds," "How I Met Your Mother," "Community," "Arrested Development," "Sons of Anarchy" and "Parks and Recreation."

She also blogs, and is open to freelance and full-time opportunities that come her way.
