Alfredo De Lara is an Emmy award-winning photojournalist and cinematographer with 25 years of visual storytelling experience. His films have been recognized six times by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, and honored with four of the most respected prizes in broadcast journalism - the George Foster Peabody award, Edward R. Morrow award, the Overseas Press Club/Kaplan Award and the Alfred I. DuPont Award.
De Lara's portfolio includes extensive war zone/conflict reportage, investigative documentary film production, and current affairs news assignments in over 70 countries worldwide. As a multi-skilled shooter, editor & field producer - his resourcefulness, self-sufficiency and problem solving skills have been proven under the most difficult circumstances & beyond cultural divides.
CAREER HIGHLIGHTS
•15 years experience consulting broadcasters on emergency contingencies for high-risk news assignments and natural disaster coverage worldwide.
•Designed, built & managed a start-up news operation that delivered 35 hours of weekly news content to more than 20 million Mexican households.
•Spearheaded early development and forward deployment of experimental live-streaming technology via Inmarsat for war zones in 1999.
•Was the only western camera crew in Taliban controlled Kabul on 9/11.
•Built and trained local staff at 8 working news bureaus: Afghanistan, Cuba, Haiti, Mexico, Puerto Rico, the United States and on the Iraq/Jordan Border.
•Helped gain unprecedented filming access for “CUBA”, a landmark BBC EARTH / IMAX documentary film about the island and it's people in transition.
