When my eldest sister graduated high school my father gave her a can that said "Success comes in cans." As a seven-year-old I didn't understand the pun and asked, "What's in the can that makes you successful?" My sister replied that when I understood what was in the can I would have the key to success.
Looking back, I had a somewhat odd childhood. My idea of fun was memorizing poetry and vocab words with my sisters. In my fantasy world, I enjoyed mixing ridiculous concoctions believing I was going to find the cure for cancer. My father brought home nano technology projects for us to 'play' with. We traveled the world as a family, broke a lot of rules and got into some trouble, but we had fun! My parents encouraged me to work my hardest at everything I did. They sent me to leadership camps, such as HOBY, Girl's State, Economics for Leaders and many more that shaped me into the person I am today.
On my high school graduation day, my sister presented me with a can like the one my father gave to her all those years ago. She knew I no longer needed to know what was in the can that made a person successful because I had found it within myself--a can-do attitude.
I carried this philosophy with me to Liberty University where I graduated summa cum laude with three degrees in Public Relations, Journalism and Broadcasting in 2012. I currently work as an Online PR Specialist at WebpageFX, a full-service Internet marketing company based in Carlisle, PA.
Now that I've explained a little about myself, I would love to learn about you. Feel free to connect with me and introduce yourself.
