Alicia Mata

My name is Alicia and I am a current teacher candidate at the University of Missouri-St Louis. I am a mother of two. My oldest has an IEP for a specific language impairment, which has given me great insight into how the Special School District functions within her school.

I have recently started working with English II students at Hazelwood West High School. My future goals are to start subbing in middle schools and high schools to get a feel for the classroom and the school systems of the St Louis area, and to eventually teach in St Louis County.

I enjoy reading and creative writing in my spare time. I am always on the lookout for new YA novels to add to my future classroom library.
