Ali contributed to the award winning Event Horizon produced by Mam Tor Publishing. Event Horizon was winner of the Best Graphic Novel at Sci-Fi London 2006 - it is a 12 issue series of books, showcasing the finest in underground, fantasy, and science fiction in a unique mix of comics and illustrated text stories by some of the best names in the industry and the stars of tomorrow. Ali paints, draws, makes models, props and sculptures and takes photographs. One of his photographs was a semi-finalist in the Channel 4 Year One Photographic Competition, was displayed in galleries in London, Liverpool and Glasgow and was Image of the Day in The Independent on 12 March 2001. He worked as a scenic artist on Alexis dos Santos’s feature film Unmade Beds (2009) Among his compositions are songs featured in the movie The Scar Crow, winner of best horror/sci-fi feature at the 2009 London Independent Film Festival for which he also wrote music for the end credits. He has recently composed the score and worked on the soundtrack of forthcoming feature film The Passing Place. He composed music for the end credits of the short film This Side of the Afterlife (2010) narrated by Rik Mayall, and his work featured on Not Alone (2010-1) and DezZzire (2010).
