Ali Shama

I am a Bronx born educator and artist of Arabian-Brazilian descent who has worked to create a vision of art that I could call my own.

I have a Masters of Fine Arts degree from CUNY-Lehman College and previously studied art education at C.W. Post College / Long Island University. I earned my second Masters Degree from Queens College, City University of New York in Educational Administration & Supervision. I started my educational career as a high school art teacher at my alma mater, Lehman High School in the Bronx for eight years. I left education to start my own web development company for three years before returning to education. During this time, I partnered up with graffiti artist, SEEN, to further explore graffiti and its application.

My artwork has been greatly influenced through my travels throughout Europe, Middle East and Latin America.

I was featured in the NY Daily News for my work as an Assistant Principal at John F. Kennedy H.S. in the Bronx. On October 14, 2008, I was appointed Principal of Francis Lewis High School in Queens, NY.
