Personal

I started my adult life early when I had my daughter at the age of 17. I had many different plans for myself, but life does not always lead you in the direction you plan to go. By the age 27, I was a single mom of 4 children, and I was working a couple of minimum wage jobs just to get by. For 14 years, I was either going to community college or attending multiple trade schools seeking out where I belonged. I ended up with an Associates in Child Development, Certification in Nursing; and I became a Registered Dental Assistant, but nothing seemed to work out for one reason or another.
In April of 2012, I had been laid off from my job and the house I was renting burned down along with everything I had ever worked for. My children and I were devastated, I was distraught and didn't know how to pick up the pieces.

My “life changing” event occurred when I finally stopped trying to do everything on my own and put my faith into God. I gave him all my problems and trusted he would lead me where I needed to be. I was looking for a job in the paper and stumbled across an ad posted for marketing in the mortgage field. I sent in my resume and was actually offered an interview. During the interview, half of everything said seemed entirely beyond my experience! I only heard the part about the career opportunity at hand would be life changing for me and my children. When I finally received a call back 3 weeks later, another obstacle had presented itself. In order to be hired I had to get my Residential Mortgage Loan Officers license. I was signed up for the course online and by the time I was told to start I only had 6 days to complete and study a 3 month course. The night before my National test my instructor informed me there was no way anyone could pass the test after only studying the material for 6 days. Needless to say, I passed my National test and my State test for Texas with a 90.
I am now working for an awesome company, and I have been mentored by the two most amazing people and mortgage experts. Between the two of them they have over 35 years of experience, and to work with them is like having a fountain of never ending knowledge at my disposal. So to say I’m blessed is an understatement!
