Hello, I’m Alison Schrag, a Fish and Wildlife Technician based right here in New York City. My journey into wildlife conservation began during my childhood, with frequent trips to upstate New York and the Adirondacks that sparked my fascination with nature. I pursued this passion academically, earning a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry, where I specialized in wildlife biology and conservation.

In my role, I focus on monitoring various species, restoring vital habitats, and educating the public about the importance of biodiversity, particularly in urban environments. My work involves a mix of field surveys, data analysis, and strategy development to ensure our local ecosystems can sustainably support both wildlife and urban communities.

I've led several impactful projects, such as the Urban Wildlife Initiative, which aims to integrate natural habitats into city planning, and the Aquatic Habitat Restoration project, improving water systems to support native fish populations. I'm also deeply involved in monitoring endangered species like the bog turtle and Indiana bat, which are crucial for maintaining ecological balance.

Aside from my technical work, I'm passionate about connecting with the community through educational programs. I frequently conduct workshops and lead nature walks to inspire others, especially young people, about the wonders of our natural world.

When I'm not working, I enjoy bird watching and photography. These hobbies not only satisfy my personal interest in nature but also help me communicate the beauty and importance of our conservation efforts through visual storytelling.

I believe that by fostering an understanding and appreciation of our natural surroundings, we can inspire more people to join us in protecting our planet's precious resources. This belief drives every project I undertake, aiming to make a lasting impact on both the environment and the communities we serve.
