The North Carolina based immigration lawyers of Allen & Pinnix, P.A., located in downtown Raleigh, have practiced immigration law for over 35 years and have represented thousands of individuals in immigration matters from family to employment based immigration, U.S. citizenship/naturalization and in deportation and removal proceedings.
After earning Bachelors and Masters degrees in History at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, John L. Pinnix attained his law degree (JD) from the Wake Forest University School of Law. Known as "Jack", Pinnix served as national President of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). Additionally, he is a founding member, and a two term Chair, of the Carolinas Chapter of AILA. He serves as a member of AILA’s national Board of Governors ( 1987-88, 1993- present). He was on the founding Board of Trustees of the American Immigration Law Foundation, “AILF” (now, the American Immigration Council-- “AIC”.)
Jack Pinnix is certified by the North Carolina State Bar as a Specialist in Immigration and Nationality Law. For over 30 years he has limited his practice exclusively to immigration and nationality issues.
Jack Pinnix has chaired numerous AILA committees, spoken at dozens of AILA Conferences and has contributed a number of scholarly articles to AILA’s publications. He has taught immigration law at the Elon, North Carolina Central and Duke University schools of law.
