Jay Aller has been an active member of the LGBT community since moving to the Tampa Bay region in 1998. It was his out and open involvement in Scouting that awakened his philanthropic calling.
In 2001, shortly after being forced out of Clearwater Christian College for being gay, and losing his Mentor to a personal battle against AIDS, Jay became an activist of LGBT and HIV/AIDS awareness in the Tampa Bay community.
After helping to start St. Pete Pride he became a volunteer in 2004 with AIDS Service Association of Pinellas and the inaugural AIDS Walk St. Petersburg where he continued to volunteer for seven more years before beginning his career as their Resource Development Manager.
Since taking the position, Jay has raised over half a million dollars by organizing events such as the Santa Speedo Run in Ybor City, Dining Out For Life Tampa Bay, and AIDS Walk Tampa Bay, recognized by Watermark as Favorite Charitable Event in 2012 & 2013.
