For me, fashion is not about staying trendy or looking beautiful, it is an art to be appreciated and analyzed. My first experience that pushed me towards my fascination for the high-end fashion market was volunteering to dress models in the Oscar de la Renta showroom during market week for the Spring 2012 Collection. It was there that I learned the importance of thinking on your feet, working with couture garments, and being able to multitask under pressure. It was vital that I work with the team to come up with a systematic approach to assure that each buyer saw the garments in the correct order, styled properly, and in a timely manner.
This past summer, I interned at Joan Shepp, a concept store in Philadelphia. Through this experience, I discovered my profound work ethic. No matter the task, other employees relied on me to complete projects quickly and efficiently. I believe that my working skills were formed around the passion that I had discovered while learning how to merchandise a boutique, make buying decisions, and analyze the details and fit of garments from some of the most influential designers of our time, including Stella McCartney, Balenciaga, Saint Laurent, and The Row, to name a few.
The most important thing that I have taken from my experiences is that I have the greatest confidence in my ability to dress and interpret fashion. I am driven by my passion and will work hard to make my mark in the industry.
