Serial global entrepreneur and philanthropist Allirajah Subaskaran is the founder and group chairman of Lyca. This group is made up of several companies operating globally across 8 business sectors that aim to provide exceptional customer experiences worldwide.

Lycamobile, one arm of the group, was ranked number four in the Sunday Times Top Track 250 list in 2013; the company’s user base now stands at 16 million, and it has achieved an annual revenue in excess of £1 billion.

Allirajah sits on the Advisory Council (representing Sri Lanka) of the British Asian Trust charity, and he is a member of the Institute of Directors in the UK. For Allirajah, giving back to the wider community is crucial. Alongside his wife, Prema, he founded Lyca’s Gnanam Foundation charity in 2010, which provides support for numerous causes. He also received a personal commendation from the UK’s Secretary of State for Education for his provision of increased mobile data allowances for disadvantaged pupils over the course of the pandemic. During this period, he also provided the NHS with much-needed items.

Allirajah enjoys a wide range of sports and particularly loves cricket. His company, Lyca, owns a cricket team in India’s Tamil Nadu Premier League, the Lyca Kovai Kings, which won last season’s tournament. Lyca also owns the Sri Lankan cricket team the Jaffna Kings, who were crowned the winners of last season’s Sri Lankan Premier League tournament.

Spending time with his three children, singing and watching movies and documentaries is how Allirajah likes to relax. He’s a keen traveller and describes himself as a philosopher as well as an entrepreneur.
