I began working with children and families in a professional capacity in 2001 at the Terra Child and Family Support Center after graduating with my diploma in Early Childhood Development (first class standing) from Grant MacEwan University.
In 2004 I began a new adventure- life as an undergraduate student! I completed my Bachelor of Education with a minor in Language Arts (with distinction) from the University of Alberta in 2007.
Promptly after graduation I started teaching with Edmonton Public Schools. I taught the kindergarten class in the Mayfield Early Education Program from 2007-2012 and the K/1 combined class from 2012-2013. I am currently teaching kindergarten at Westglen School.
In the summer of 2011 I decided to return to school part time to complete my Master of Elementary Education with a focus on Early Learning at the University of Alberta. I concluded my studies in the summer of 2013 and convocated in November 2013.
I am passionate about using a transformative curriculum approach in early childhood classrooms, exploring social justice issues with young children and using technology to create a participatory culture.
