Allison Beer McKenzie

I am an Architect and the Director of Sustainability at SHP Leading Design in Cincinnati, Ohio. In addition to design work on education and affordable housing projects, I oversee many of the firm’s sustainability initiatives including coordination of the firm’s 47 LEED registered projects and consulting work for outside companies such as Al. Neyer and CB Richard Ellis in multiple LEED Rating Systems including LEED for Schools, LEED for New Construction, LEED for Core and Shell, LEED for Commercial Interiors, LEED for Homes and LEED for Existing Buildings Operation and Maintenance. I also develop and teach classes on sustainable design, including LEED credentialing preparation courses and developed all of the content for SHP’s “EcoFlash” iPhone applications for LEED credentialing exam preparation. I just finished working with Cincinanti Habitat for Humanity to design and build a “green” home model. In my spare time, I write the blog “Building My Green Life” which focuses on living, working and building more sustainably. I am also the past chair of the AIA Cincinnati Committee on the Environment, on the Board of Directors for the USGBC Cincinnati Regional Chapter and a guest expert for LEEDuser.com.
