Ally Reynolds
Photographer, journalist, and Volunteer in Athens, Ga
Hi! My name is Ally Reynolds. I have a strong curiosity for animals, and I am absolutely obsessed with my dog. In my hometown, Fayetteville, Ga, I volunteered at my local animal shelter with any free time I had. My dog, Callie, is my pride and joy. We got her last summer after I presented a PowerPoint to my family titled “Reasons That We Need Callie.” Although my parents were hesitant at first, they have never looked back. My mother sends me a daily picture of Callie to hint towards me that I need to visit home. Over quarantine, my family really spent a lot of time together, and I will credit Callie for that. We always took her on walks together in order to get out of the house. Also, Callie is a golden retriever and loves the water, so my family takes her to the lake. Since she is a super social puppy, she would always want to play with all the other dogs there and meet all the people swimming. By the end of a long day spent playing in the water, Callie, along with me and my two sisters, would be fast asleep on the two-hour drive back home. With my sister and I leaving for college soon, it was a great way to spend time with the family before we all parted ways. Callie is two hours away, and I miss her like crazy. In an attempt to fill this void, I will volunteer at the Guide Dog Foundation and the animal shelter in Athens. By volunteering, I will be able to sustain my love for animals. Even though I really love dogs, my interest is not limited to just this animal. In the future, I really want to expand my curiosity and knowledge of animals by working for National Geographic. I am very open-minded, and I am extremely interested in learning more about animals.
