Alpine Holiday Inn sits up in Kufri, just outside Shimla proper. It's quieter than the city but not so far that you feel cut off — a good middle ground if Mall Road's chaos isn't really your thing. A lot of people rank it among the best hotels in Shimla, and once you're there, you get why. Mountain views, actual peace and quiet, none of the daily traffic hassle you'd deal with staying closer to town.
The hotel's right off NH-5, so getting to and from isn't a pain. Most rooms face the valley — genuinely nice to wake up to — and if you want more privacy, they've got cottages too. Nothing fancy, just extra space if that's what you're after. Food's solid, not gourmet but you won't complain. Parking's free. And weirdly enough, the staff start remembering your name and your usual order after just a day or two, which sounds minor until you notice how rare that actually is at hotels.
Doesn't matter what brings you there — family trip, honeymoon, a work retreat you didn't ask for, or just a weekend to disappear for a bit. It handles all of it fine. Plus there's enough around to keep you busy: Kufri Valley, Mahasu Peak, Himalayan Nature Park, Jakhu Temple — none of it far.
So if you're scrolling through lists of the best hotels in Shimla and want somewhere that feels like an actual escape and not just another name on a list, this one's worth a look.
