Dr. Tahir Yunus MBBS DABS FACS FASMBS is a Consultant surgeon for Advanced Laparoscopicand Bariatric Surgery. He has more than 10 years of experience and has performed over 3000 surgeries. He graduated from King Edward University, Lahore, and trained at the William Beaumont Hospital in Michigan where he completed the American Board of Surgery
certification (DABS). He pursued advanced sub-specialty training in advanced laparoscopic and bariatric surgery at the University of California, San Francisco, and then completed the American Board of Obesity Medicine (ABOM). For 10 years he has worked at the International Medical Center in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, as a Consultant in Advanced Laparoscopic
and Bariatric Surgery. He was the Chairman of Surgery and led a surgical department with over 70 surgeons of all subspecialties. He also served as the Chairman of the Operating Rooms and Director of Surgical Quality where he introduced major surgical quality initiatives to provide patients with the safest and most technologically advanced surgical environment in the region.
He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and a Fellow of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (FASMBS). He has presented at multiple international surgical meetings and is actively
engaged with regional surgical societies in the training of other surgeons. He is an expert Bariatric Surgeon and master trainer for laparoscopic surgery. He is currently the ‘Vice-Chair’ of the training committee for the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity (IFSO) chapter of the Middle East and North Africa region (MENA) and actively conducts training seminars at different academic hospitals.
