Isa Al Thawadi

I am the Founder of Al Thawadi Tailoring, an online fashion advisory service that provides bespoke tailoring and personal styling advice.

I have always been passionate about fashion and style. Starting a career in tailoring was a natural next step after studying fashion and textile at College. I set off for India to learn directly from tailors, and apprenticed in sewing, cutting and styling. I then travelled in China, discovering the textile industry there, which is the world’s largest. My travels in the region still inspire my craft today.

At Al Thawadi Tailoring, I am Head of Tailoring and manages the tailoring and alterations work. I am responsible for sourcing all materials and the supply chain logistics. On the personal styling side, I oversee every customer’s journey and the styling advice that is given.

Al Thawadi Tailoring provides the following services:

- The full wardrobe inventory service, editing customers’ clothing and accessory collections to keep only the very best items and encouraging them to recycle or upcycle the rest

- Special event outfit advice for occasions like weddings, parties and work dos

- Clothing and accessory combination advice to design outfits from customers’ pieces

- Ad hoc advice on clothing choices, potential purchases, clothing care and sustainability

While I am not developing the business or working on the Al Thawadi Tailoring Style Bible, I like to build on the skills I acquired in my time in Asia. I worked with a start-up there, helping launch a shipping business from scratch. The operation had customers all over the world, in the USA and Europe and I managed the finances and all of the logistics. I also had a hand in photographing the product and advertising it on the Instagram account. I am now learning to code in my spare time, and taking online courses in business and marketing.
