Chef in Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Hello all! My name Is Alvin Gozun. I currently work as an Occasional Teacher in Toronto. I completed my undergraduate degree from the University of Toronto where I received my Bachelors of Arts. I completed an English Major and minors in Human Geography and Religion. I received by Bachelor's of Education from UOIT as a Primary/Junior Teacher and have since taken the Intermediate English ABQ and the Spec Ed AQ. I only started teaching this year but I have certainly learned a lot! After supplying for a couple of months, I worked a short-term LTO, teaching ENG4C, ENG3C, EMS3O, and OLC4O. I was fortunate enough to be working with very experienced teachers who supported me with resources and guidance. This summer, I also taught ENG3C for a month. Before becoming a teacher, I worked as a Sous Chef at one of the busiest restaurants in the Financial District.
I see many parallels in cooking and teaching. You tend to prepare and organize your day and you have a certain plan in mind only to see it go a totally different direction. You interact with all sorts of personalities and you learn to empathize with each and every one of them. They're both very stressful and very gratifying. Most importantly, cooking and teaching are jobs that require a lot of passion and hard work that sometimes is not recognized but we do it all over again everyday with a smile on our faces.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and I look forward to learning and working with all of you!
