Alyson grew up in beautiful Sarasota, Florida. She earned her B.A. in Elementary Education, M.S in Administration and Supervision (University of South Florida) in addition to a M.A. in Rehab Counseling (Nova University).
From the age of six, Alyson knew that she wanted to be a teacher. It may have had something to do with the fact that both of her parents were teachers; in any case she taught in Florida for thirteen years before relocating to California.
Some of her fondest memories are of the experiences she had as a Community Coordinator while working for the City of San Jose, CA. She had the golden opportunity to serve on the Strong Neighborhoods initiative outreach and planning team. During this time, neighborhood improvement plans were developed and implemented. It was great assisting community members learn how to better access City services and resources in addition to having a voice concerning their neighborhood.
During her stint with the City she also developed the S.T.A.N.D (Striving Towards Achievement with A New Direction) program. This program helped girls disassociate from their gang lifestyle and live productive lives.
After leaving the City, she worked as a Case Manager for Advent Group Ministries.
Most recently Alyson joined the URUSA Task Force. The Task Force's mission is to promote events and to raise funds to support Student run Social Benefit Enterprises.
Alyson also has an online vintage jewelry business and a brick and mortar thrift shop that supports Student trainings. She has collected vintage jewelry and antiques for many years. You can see some of her beautiful pieces at the website listed below. www.etsy.com/shop/AlyBaublesBeadsetc.
