Alyssa Burgin

San Antonio, Texas and Rockport, Texas

Once a pre-med science major with an interest in immunological sciences and physics, Alyssa went on to turn a scholarship opportunity into undergraduate and graduate studies in journalism and communication. Post-graduation, she accepted national positions in poliical communication, and despite tangential forays into historial preservation contracting and commercial construction, returned to her communications background to helm non-profit media positions. Her most meaningful work included a stint with an NGO and two hostage crisis situations, both of which were resolved. Six years ago, she co-founded the Texas Drought Project, to bring new attention to climate change in Texas through the lens of drought. She is a much sought-after public speaker and a willing mento to others.
