If you were to ask any of my friends to describe me in a few words, I’m confident that at least one of those words would be some variation of “mess.” That being said, my life is very much not together. However, one consistent aspect of my life that I’ve held onto through the disaster is my involvement in physical activities, my most recent being Ultimate Frisbee.
That was a lot of build up just for a story about my infatuation with throwing around a disk, but it felt quite fitting considering it is honestly my newfound love. I have only been playing for about four months, and it’s very possible that in a few more months my love will fade. For now, though, it’s one of the things I miss the most about my hometown since leaving for college. I joined a team that some kids from my high school had put together, per request of my good friend Colin. Though originally hesitant, as soon as I made my first interception, I knew I belonged on the field. After many lowkey practices, we finally decided to join an ultimate frisbee tournament. Right before leaving for college, I played my last tournament game, which happened to be the only one we’ve won so far this season. I miss my team and the game more every day, but it does give me one more reason to visit home, which I guess my parents will appreciate. On a higher note, the women's ultimate team at my college, UGA, seems to be very fun and welcoming, so my connection to the game might just prosper for a bit longer.
