Physicist and Software Engineer in Geneva, Switzerland
I'm a physicist with a passion for computer science. I currently work at CERN as a Fellow and member of the ROOT development team. ROOT is the data analysis framework used by most high energy physicists. Before working at CERN I was a postdoctoral researcher at an Intel® Parallel Computing Center project for code modernization of high energy physics simulation software at São Paulo State University (UNESP).
I have a PhD in aerospace engineering from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. My PhD thesis work focused on simulating the microstructures of solid rocket propellants. Before going to Illinois, I studied nuclear astrophysics at the University of Tokyo, in Japan.
I am interested in nuclear and particle physics, astrophysics, astronomy, cosmology, high performance and scientific computing, Gentoo Linux, Unix, Intel® Xeon Phi™, SIMD vectorization techniques, CUDA programming, and related research topics.
