Amahra Spence

Amahra is a playwright and entrepreneur, passionate about the diversity and sustainability of the creative economy, designing social ventures to address some of the industry challenges.

In 2014, Amahra became the Founding Director of MAIA Creatives CIC, an artist support hub, training creatives in business, while championing and producing innovative work from diverse voices in arts and technology.

Amahra is also founder of, STEAM Projects, an initative designed bringing creativity to STEM management, strategy and education, by embedding the arts in science, technology, engineering and manufacturing.

Most recently, Amahra launched The MAIA Group, an artist-led production and communications agency, specialising in content creation and events.

Amahra also shares her experiences as an educator and lecturer, developing courses and programmes around creative enterprise.

Currently:

- Touring 'Abuelo', a solo show about her heritage, premiering at The Birmingham REP.

- A member of the Creative Industries Federation Advisory Council.

- A member of the Birmingham Big Art Project's Steering Group.
