Amanda Canada
Teacher in Burlington, Ontario, Canada
Hello. My name is Amanda. I am a graduate of both the University of Guelph and Lakehead University. I teach Math and Science at an International School in Cairo, Egypt. I have two children, ages 2.5 and 4, who travel with me and attend school abroad. I am taking this course so I can teach senior subjects when I return to Canada. I am hoping to take the Math ABQ next. I am currently qualified to teach J/I Science in Ontario, but have been teaching senior subjects abroad in Ghana and Egypt for 3 years. I have taught mostly intermediate and senior math, but next year will be moving into Grade 7-8 science. I have also done a stint of supply teaching in southern Ontario. I hope this course helps me to strengthen my assessment strategies at the senior level. The schools I have taught at use the Manitoba curriculum, so I hope this course will also be a refresher of the Ontario curriculum for me. I enjoy all areas of Biology, but I think my favourite have to be cellular biology and genetics. If I do not return to Canada, I plan to continue traveling and working at Ontario schools abroad. Thanks for reading!
