I worked as primarily a line cook at Warehouse Cafe and Market in the Brooklyn neighborhood for a little over six months. Duties included: Creating weekly soups and daily specials from scratch, cooking an array of breakfast and lunch items, slicing cheeses and meats to par and keeping track of weekly par needs, preparing spreads and dips on an as needed basis, washing dishes, operating a cash register, and serving food.

Gonzo is a food cart in inner southeast Portland. It serves as the kitchen for Basecamp Brewpub. My duties included working the line, running food, and morning prep work.

After spending 10 months in Guatemala, I was eager to return to my home of the previous two years, reconnect, and give back a little in the process. I wrote to the HR department and offered to come volunteer until the end of the season, and was welcomed back and encouraged to arrive as soon as possible! Halfway into my time there, I was offered an hourly paid position in the housekeeping department, and that is where I finished up the season. I have since returned to my hometown of Portland, after three years total away.
Shift Manager - Omega Institute for Holistic Studies, Cafe (Rhinebeck New York) - May 2011- November 2012
I was employed at the Omega Institute, working in the Cafe as the daytime shift manager. Duties included assigning tasks for the day, creating the daily schedule, supervising cafe operations, managing a staff of up to 10 people daily, preparing and serving espresso drinks, operating a cash register, cooking for a full menu (soups, sandwiches, burgers, etc), bussing and washing dishes and serving guests. Omega offers seasonal work only, and I am eligible for re-hire. However, I decided to take a year off for travel and alternative experiences.
